I think we should make a new TV show. Strictly come coding. Judges would hold preliminary auditions were people would turn up and code in front of them. John Simmons would take the role of being brutally "honest" to anyone who tried to code in VB, or uses txt speak in their comments. Clips of the best and worst would be shown. The best would be selected to go to "computer camp" where categories (Managed, native, assembly, and the over 25 years old languages) would be assigned to judges to be mentored. Ultimately 4 from each category would be selected to compete in the live finals. Shows would be given a theme (such as retro games, business apps, useless flash gimmicks, etc). Contestants would sit on stage and code. Judges would comment on performance, style, and generally criticise each others view points. Judges would gives scores out of x0F. Chris would say things like "You remind me of a young Christian Graus", and John would repeatedly say "That was possibly your best performance in this show so far". Viewers would vote for their fav's each week, and the two with the lowest votes would go to a code off, with one being removed each week. The winner of the final would win a contract with Google. It might be boring as hell, but it would be better than dancing.

No. You're too mild and meek. Judge like requirements has to include a certain feline character with claws to match.

How is this even news??? Beggars belief that junk like this gets any time at all. I blame rolling news: they've got nothing better to broadcast so they broadcast nothing.

I thought he might go this week after :rose: Cherie Lunghi :rose: got kicked off. If it's supposed to be a dancing competition then he should have gone much earlier. If it's supposed to be just entertainment why have professional judges and put effort into training and improving? AND they manage to squeeze another 2.5 hours a week out of it with Ms Winkelman, which I find astonishing.

I suppose you could take the part of 'female judge 1' who is a bit dim and lacking in talent, and mainly there for the looks. If you don't feel up to that, you could always be the more mature 'female judge 2' who thinks she is still young and sexy.

I only dip into this occasionally for a few minutes at a time. However, the BBC has defined the rules for this type of show and they should go with it. If it starts to produce "wrong" results then that's something that should be looked at for the next series. I reckon this will backfire on the show. Re: reality shows in general, I think the talent ones like this are far superior to the Big Brother types. At least for the former the contestants actually have to work to achieve a result. The latter is just about being famous for being a nonentity.
