One thing that made me laugh this week was the term out of Australia "Arse Antlers". I had to do a Wiki.

It may also be, in part, due to a faulty English-speaker folk-etymology of the German Esel ('ass'), or a mishearing of it as "ass-hole." And, once that term "ass-hole" exists, one can expect the ignorant to imagine that "ass" *must* refer to the buttocks.
