tragedy. trap has university involved - play ( Trap Play in American Football ). different word for play is tragedy. Didn't know what Macaroni writer had to do with it. I was as far as Macaroni and Writer both had to do with Penne. So i looked it up on wiki (so i might have cheated a bit). Macaroni Writer - "Penne" -> Pen. Pen is a theater piece ( play ) which also points me to tragedy. And too many universities in the USA have had a tragedy in the last few years.

2 JIT wild guesses :) PlayNet -> Pen = Play, Trap = net; No idea what it has to do with universities. Granted -> Pen writer = (David Marshall) Grant, the rest i would have clearly no idea. I am shooting blanks :) just wanted to give it a try :D
