I'm in trouble today. I saw a story on the back of Computer Weekly about a guy that paid a virtual prostitute for a steamy on-line romp on Second Life and how, when his wife found out about it, she divorced him. Now, I'm not usually one to stand up for guys that cheat on their wives but in this case I had to laugh at just how far the wife was prepared to take the matter, given the fact the husband hadn't even so much as left the house to 'do the dirty'. I would expect at the most a hell of an as* kicking and maybe a few nights on the sofa, but divorce? Harsh, I thought. So in an attempt to strike up a bit of pre-coffee morning conversation I decided to give my opinion to my wife which, it turns out, was big mistake. She didn't share my opinion and now, despite my attempts to backtrack, she believes I think it's perfectly acceptable to pay for sex with another woman(be it virtual or otherwise). Looks like I may be in line for a few nights on the sofa myself!

Having a prostitute over at your house would also result in not having to leave the house. Would you still think an as* kicking would be enough in that case. (I do agree in the case of virtual it's a bit harsh but women are strange beings, don't try to understand them, you'll end up having spent a lifetime and still being nowhere, just try to live with them)

Nope, in that case you deserve everything you get. Like I say, I certainly don't condone it, but I just think there's a difference between such behavior on-line and in reality.

Bad Idea, thats like confessing that you have "done" something wrong. :sigh: Wouldn't it be a nice thought if one could reboot his wife in such a situation. Or use a registry cleaner or such.

Regarding the original story, I remembered reading that the couple that divorced initially met and fell for each other in-game. They also had a virtual wedding in Second Life. So you can imagine that the two were missing a gear from start.

            Insert funny quote here.

 A trick I learned over the years is when being asked a difficult question either return with a difficult question, or somewhere in the answer give a complement, that way the'll more prone to hear the complement and not the actuall answer (but you have to make shure the complement has something to do with the question otherwise it's to obvious, not easy to do)

perhaps, or perhaps she ended a natural progression that would have ended in divorce. Set your wayback machine for 1986. I married my first wife, she discovered compuserve and university dialups and then the MUDs. She had virtual sex often, got married finally, told everyone local and remote that she was living with her brother.... nice. This progressed through 4 years of trying to "win her back," so I sent her home to her parents. She contacted me a couple of years ago to let me know she got help, straightened herself out, and got remarried. Good for her. If you have to go looking outside the marriage for something, you will keep looking until it gets so bad there is a divorce. The wife cut the process short. As far as I know my wife never had a physical affair, but I will never know for sure. She set up the process so she could have, explaining me away as a brother.
