Given the talent, variety and extremity of the bands represented even in the songs we recognize I'd say any cover band attempting all these would either be so unmissable as to be stars in their own right or absolutely awfull which is much more likely. One of the reasons that Metallica remain a legend and G'n'R have a huge fan base after producing nothing for 13+ years is that what they do is unique, it can't be replicated or surpassed by others let alone a cover band. So no I would not go to see a cover band fail to live up to the performances required to emulate these greats, but if somebody trully could, you couldn't drag me away. :)

Well done. I saw these guys at Rocklahoma and they were *amazing*. I got the idea to do this quiz b/c I was practicing the solo to that song, sitting here waiting for source code to upload to a server. The songs are all songs I can play BTW, that's why I asked if people would see a band that covered those songs, it's my planned setlist.

I would go and see that cover band! The first gig I ever went to was a friends band doing covers, and they did Am I Evil. To be pedantic Am I Evil is by Diamond Head; Metallica just covered it for the B-side of Creeping Death. I think Metallic are one of the best covers bands in the world. They started out doing some obsure covers when they didn't have many songs of their own, and just didn't introduce them so people would assume they were their songs. (I remember reading that in an interview with Hetfield in Kerrang in the eighties). I first got into quite a few bands by tracking down the originals of some of Metallica's covers like Killing Joke (The Wait) and The Misfits (Green Hell / Last Caress).

Going on your song choice...Does your vocalist do a passable Axl Rose, Sebastian Bach and Bruce Dickinson??? In answer to your question - I'd be there in a flash if he did! That would be some set vocal wise :)
There's a Priest song in there too, so, yeah, finding a good vocalist is going to be the super hard part. Right now, I am trying to find the people to flesh out the band, I've learned these songs just playing along with the CD.
