You are missing one of the all time greats Get Carter Fan bloomin tastic film
Just racking up the postings
As long as you are talking about the original I heartily agree (as in my reply to fluffy tigress earlier in thread)
My new favourite phrase - "misdirected leisure activity"

The Third Man is a better film, but not on his list!

Damn, I'll have the Harry Lime theme playing in my head for the rest of the day! Great film, agreed. At what point do we move onto The Ladykillers? (Original, although I do like the Coens' version).

I really liked Cloverfield, and was suprised so many other people thought it was rubbish.
Words fade as the meanings change, but somehow, it don't bother me.
It was just so boring. Disjointed and tedious.

Americans don't speak English, they speak "American". And no, "American" isn't a language, but an accident :)

Grammar and spelling of English is dictated by the.. English. Who's "you folks"? And when did "your folk" run the world? Having the largest mouth doesn't mean that you're running the show :)

EVERY Bollywood story is this... Attractive Girl meets Handsome Boy, Dance/Sing. Girls Father Forbids Girl from Seeing boy, Dance/Sing. Boy does something good in the Father's eyes,(saves his life/business), Dance/Sing. Boy Marries Girl, Big Dance/Sing. Is that right?

No. You just get to know those type of movies. There are a lot of amazing movies and the list is endless.

John Simmons, as always, different. There arent many who have recommended this one.

Something from England is ENGLISH! England's is that which Belongs to England. As in He is an English Man and England's Green and Pleasant Land. To state they are English Films is incorrect, they may be described as English-Language Films, or American Films, predominately abused by the constant bastardization that the Hollywood Producers do to both the Beautiful English Language and our history. (According to Hollywood, Sir Winston Eisenhower parachuted into a German Submarine in 1938 and nicked all the secrets etc blah blah blah... U571, what a piece in inaccurate crap. It was a British victory two years before the film was set, but no, that won't do will it? /rant

Danish was referring to the fact that they are English language films. The people of England do not get to decide how the language should be spoken or written.
Cheers, Vıkram.
Stand up to be seen. Speak up to be heard. Shut up to be appreciated.

I liked it. Once things started happening, it got really interesting. What I thought was really cool was that they unknowingly filmed one of the first landings of the creatures (when they were at the beach/boardwalk).

Citizen Kane, Hot Fuzz and A Fish Called Wanda. That should give you a mix. Two of them are British as well. Ellaine :rose:

Have you seen "Shaun of the dead"? it's more or less the prequel to Hot Fuzz (well, not at all, but if you see it you will laugh at certain gags that appear in Hot Fuzz that are not very nice, but that are related specifically to "Shaun of the dead"). In "Shaun of the dead" I laughed loudly at the beginning when still nothing has happened and the song "Zombie Nation" started to sound in the walk-man of one bus traveler near Shaun... it is fulfilled of this kind of details. I loved those two movies... Also: - Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels. - Snatch. - Layer cake. All of them are in the same brit-style. Sorry I've not been able to resist. ;)

- Citizen Kane - A Requiem for a Dream - I also liked Cloverfield (I suppose it depends on the hungry you are to eat popcorn...). The two first are great movies...
