From the article: SHE is the perfect wife, with the body of a Page 3 pin-up and housekeeping skills that put TV’s Kim and Aggie to shame. robot[^] Her name is Aiko, she can even read a map, and will never, ever, nag..... Pros and cons of Robo girl SHE knows how to use the Sky+ box; Will always remember your mum’s birthday; ;) Can join in multi-player Xbox games; ;) Can be set to “mute” during the football; Easy to turn on. BUT . . . Might short-circuit while doing the dishes; :sigh: Could hack into your email and text messages; Would have very long memory and endless stamina for shopping. :omg: :wtf:

I'm confused. The article says he needs help getting her to walk. It also says she gets him drinks. If she can't walk how does she get him drinks? And another thing, why can she work "almost 24 hours a day"? What does she need a break for? Other than that I find it interesting that he built her for only £14,000. That seems kinda cheap to me.

Don't blame me. I voted for Chuck Norris.

Given the cost of the alternative I'd say its down right the bargain of the year

the article said "walk like a human" which implies that she has mobility but not on two legs. (the chair wheels around or she has a balancing back wheel and wheelies on her shoes) or some other non-human like mobility... of course I had to teach my step-son how to use wheelie shoes... so I guess wheelie shoes are rather human... though perhaps not what he had in mind. wheels, tractor treads, even extra limbs are easy. Two legs and self balancing mobility is difficult, or at the very least bulky and not very sexy.... http://www.honda.com/asimo/[^] At least I hope no one finds that sexy.... X| :~

At first I thought she had wheels or three legs or something but that one picture shows her sitting in a chair like a person. Maybe she levitates?

My first guess was that her chair had wheels. :) cheap, easy, of course she probably does not pick up as well as she sweeps and serves drinks if that is true. I assumed the easiest and cheapest method, which is sit her down and move the chair. :) of course that would make her disinclined to make it into the bedroom with the guy... or at least even with additional programming, it would be awfully crowded.

... and imagine if MS wrote the OS? "Oh ye, Baby - give it to me!" "Oh She-Bot, you're great!" "Ohhhhh!" "Oh, She-Bot, how did I ever do without you?" "You have updates to install, do you want to install them now?" "WTF?" "These updates require a re-start - do you want to restart now?" "Ohhhh Yeeeesss! - wait, no, I didn't..." "Restarting... Hi, do you come here often?"

If I knew then what I know today, then I'd know the same now as I did then - then what would be the point? .\\axxx (That's an 'M')

Much of the AI seems to be a chat bot, like A.L.I.C.E. Add speech recognition/synthesis plus computer vision and there's your Aiko. It's amazing at first glance, but all these things have been around for some time.

                      Insert funny quote here.
