Outlook mails and address list

Hi ! I have enough of Win98, and will move soon to Win2000. But, I want to avoid a problem that I had when I reinstalled Win98 : I couldn't restore in Outlook my old emails and email addresses. Does anyone know how I can save my mails and addresses to have them back after installing Win2000 ? Thanks ! Jerome

First, use File->Export->Addresses to generate a .WAB file for the adress book (yes, I forgot that one nad lost my address book). For messages there will be a directory for Outlook Express (can't remember the Win98 location) that has files callin Inbox, Sent etc. with no extension. Copy them some where and later when you have Win2k running open Outlook Express 6 and use File->Import->Messages. Select Microsoft Outlook Express 6, Next, then Browse. When you select the directory it will give you the option of importing all files. Do so and they will be copied into your current Outlook Express database. Hey ! You need to open Outlook , select import and Export , which will open the "import and export wizard" for you. Select export to a file , through which you can specify the type of file you wanna create. Select a "," file or a ".pst" file which you can use when you create a profile later in the Windows 2000 machine. Make sure you delete unnecessary file and purge the unwanted data inorder to reduce the size of the export file. Ragavendran Vaidhyanadhan
