I won't say impossible because historically there were very, very few who hid their gender to do so, and a few died for the cause. Ninja did eagerly employ women. that makes sense. samurai required actual training, skill and dedication beyond making me cheese sammiches while barefoot in my kitchen. ninjas on the other hand, one of their primary functions was the production of a variety of grilled sammiches, cheese beyond one of the most common, but occasionally the ruben and often the club. a lot of people think it's a coincidence that ninjas always carried a panini press in their pajamas - fact: ninjas invented the panini press.

a very strong misunderstanding of history.... The samurai had their good side and bad side, they were people. If you consider them like the gunfighters in the old west, if you tried to divide everyone into good and bad roles, ninja and samurai, you would be very wrong, none really fit into the full view of one side or the other. The Samurai had history and tradition, and I won't say that they did not have their good people, but like any society burdened with a powerful class, they took advantage of it. It was "honorable" to steal because you deserved the bounty in the first place, it was "honorable" to kill in cold blood because that person dishonored you through action or inaction (like not being your slave, which you "deserved"). You created a class that was destined for failure the longer it went on. Honor became its own worst enemy being as dishonorable as it was honorable and both at the same time. Again, there were good samurai, and bad samurai, the good samurai were not always good, the bad samurai not always bad. With the Ninja you had the same problem. You had the cannon fodder to die trying to get the best in the group into the building to kill the leader. Worse, if you survived you could just as easily be employed to die getting someone else in to kill the guy who just hired you to kill this one.... Both had cool tools. Ninja historically had some stealth, but not all. they did employ early fire-arms (hand cannons), and did use an array of nasty Samurai based weapons, variants of what the Europeans called a "man-catcher." The Ninja prided themselves on their honor and ethical code as well, as strange it might seem. Honor was a part of society, not your role in the society. Both Samurai and Ninja were variations of that strained concept of honor that society was dealing with. :) that totally ruin your view of Ninja's? :laugh: :-D To answer your question though... Yes! You da' man :-D I've got over 3 feet now. Picked up about 10"-12" inches since I replied to your post earlier. Weatherman is calling for another foot over night tonight :-D

I have the opposite problem - my grass is growing at a ridiculous rate due to the torrential downpours we had a few weeks back, with follow-up rain interspersed with summer sunshine and humidity!! My front paddock was mowed not long back, the grass was 3 feet tall a week and a half ago when I slashed it, and now it's over a foot tall AGAIN... Summer in Australia... it's a beautiful thing!!

I wish my grass could grow like that in the summer. Problem is that my growing season is too short even though I'm about an hour outside Los Angeles. It's a combination of the high altitude (6,000ft/1,850m), high acidity in the soil due to pine needles, and dry weather. I've experimented with some varieties of fiscues and Kentucky Bluegrass with mixed results. Seems each year it is a different variety. One of these days I'll get it down right. I should have thrown down seeds before it snowed, as that has worked to an extent in the past.

Probably to the same extent that I wish it would snow... I have never lived somewhere that snows... but you probably wish it would stop snowing so you could get your car out of the garage!! In summer, I need to mow my lawn weekly lest it get out of control... Of course, I don't care too much about the paddock - I'm trying to get the grass coverage up after having some palm trees cleared, so I let it get longer and slash it in the hope that the cuttings will help spread a bit of seed, and/or provide some nutrients for the soil...

I grew up down by the beach and lived by the ocean for 25 years, would head up to the mountains to go snowboarding and all. Found this place one day when my wife and I came up here during the summer to look for a relatively inexpensive place. We decided that since we are both fans of winter sports, why not check out around where we like gong skiing/snowboarding. Saw this place, put in a bid, sellers agreed to our price and got it. It's pretty cool that if we get tired of the snow, the beach is only 1 hour away (L.A. that is, San Diego a bit more), and Las Vegas is only a 3 hour drive.

OK, this debate has been going around our office today. Would you rather be a ninja or a samurai? I choose ninja because they got to do the cool stuff the that samurai considered themselves to honorable to do. You know the fun stuff: stealthy espionage, assassinations, and such. The samurai seemed to be burdened by honor and ethical codes that basically left them as highly trained battlefield cannon fodder. Thoughts?
Ninja and Samurai are for two different situations. One is for open war other for Guerrilla warfare - so best is learn both and be that based on situation.. :-D Showdowns are samurai style - Ninja style is for avoiding showdowns (yep - assassinations :zzz: )

All of you that think Ninjas are cooler, haven't you guys ever seen Shogun ?? Samurais are way tougher, they can kick pantzy ninja's ass any day. Ninja's can't fight. They sneak on you and attack you in your back and in great numbers. That's until the samurai get mad, put an army together and destroy all ninjas. By the way, samurai are aristocrats while ninjas are simple assassins.
