I'm not scared to boot off it, I just don't want to have to wait the 10 minutes it takes for the machine to restart.

:D 10 mins rebooting is still quicker than downloading, setting up and running VMWare...

... and after all that he still needs to reboot. :-D (If I remember correctly, VMWare requires reboot after installation.)

Yeah but I have VMWare installed already. As it turns out the disk isn't bootable anyway.

I could have virtualbox installed and booting off a cd in less time than it takes to reboot.

Still would just take less time to reboot your machine...

Since my XP SP3 box is connected to corporate network it takes at least 5 minutes to shutdown and the same 5 minutes to reboot. I am saying that installing virtualbox off my network share would probably be faster than that.

Open the CD with something like MajicISO or Roxio. It will tell you if the CD is bootable.
