Major snowstorm in action

You're in Ancaster? I've got a friend who lives down there. Nice place. (and yeah, we're getting the same dumping, though most is going sideways, not downwards)
cheers, Chris Maunder

What's in the center of the roundabout there? Stonehenge?

I'm from Hamilton originally, but currently I'm in Europe so I'm not actually in Ancaster. I do have family in Ancaster though. Looks like you're getting a good one over there.

Presumably! :)

The wind is pretty strong as well. It blew out a plate glass window from the 30th story on a building just up Bay street from me. Unfortunately two pedestrians have been injured. Tomorrow I'm supposed to drive to London, Ontario to move one of my daughters home. I doubt that it will happen though. Too much snow and it's not even Winter yet. :)

Yeah, it looks really nasty. In a way I wish I was there - haven't seen any substantial amount of snow for almost 5 years. But then again... :-\ Good luck with the move. Hope the weather improves for you.

Bah! With the exception of last year's snowfall, the first proper one in my opinion (of course, I'm biased to Edmonton snowfall standards :-\ ) brought the country to a standstill (literally, we were trapped in the house for 4 days straight), I haven't seen a proper winter since 1997!

I used to live in Sudbury for a time. Most winters the snow got higher than my car (a '92 VW Jetta) and stayed until the end of April. Accumulations were typically in excess of 4 feet. Temperatures were -30C or colder from December until mid-March. Awful. Awful.

Awesome. Awesome. That's my kind of weather. Do you remember how crisp and fresh everything was? Ah, I miss it!

Yeah, I also remember my toque freezing to my forehead as a result of my breath condensing and forming ice when I was walking to and from university. I remember my toes going numb and having to bundle up like an astronaut. I remember having to plug in my car and pray that it started. The hoar frost[^] was pretty, though.

I didn't know you had roundabouts that side of the Atlantic.
Words fade as the meanings change, but somehow, it don't bother me.
Yeah. There's a few being constructed. They're not ubiquitious, however. At least, not yet.

I heard 30+ cm...

30 cm, nice. Bet you most schools wont even have a snow day.
Nope. I heard that although school bus services wouldn't be running, schools would remain open.

I seem to remember reading once (on the internet, so it must be true), that the first ever roundabout was in the USA, but they never caught on over there. We Europeans have them every few metres. ;)

yeah, 30cm of snow and schools are open. 1inch of snow in texas and the state declares an emergency. Shits not fair in life.
Nope, not fair at all...
