Hi all, I live in the country and cannot get broadband internet. Currently we have Wildblue Satellite service but it will not support Skype or Remote desktop which are both required for my job. I want to be able to work from home more often but unless I can get better internet that won't happen. Does anyone have any ideas? Does anyone know if the internet offered by cell phone companies will work for what I need? I live in rural eastern MN. Thanks

When I'm on the road, I've been able to connect to the Internet without any problem using my mobile phone, usually it is used as a modem so depending on the speed you can get you will be able to use the remote desktop and the skype without problems. You should be able to use GPRS, HSDPA or faster connections. Hope this helps...

How close are you to a broadband connection? You might consider a Wi-Fi or microwave link. Microwave is expensive but has a long range, fast and reliable. Wi-Fi will g a long way with the right antennas. If you have neighbors with a similar problem, you might consider getting together to pay the cable company to run a line to the area or paying for a microwave link.

AM, You might look into broadband wireless access. It's kind of pricy but not inordinately so. Verizon, sprint, etc. I've some friends that use it - allows them to be as mobile as they desire. cg
