I suppose that analogy can be drawn for the set of Sufis not considered heretics. The others [Sufis] are considered insane even by the Wahabi standards who are considered insane by everyone else. Then you have the Takfiris of which Osama bin Laden is one of their most prominent members/advocates. I don't have to tell you what the whole planet thinks of them, much less a Muslim that's not brainwashed.

Should not be surprising. Atleast I didn't read any such thing. All I read Pakistan lost its part in 71 war. May be they have changed it now. Even if they have then it should not surprising. I am sure Indian kids would not have read something like that Pakistan had given a tough time to Indians when they tried to invade Pakistan in 1965 war.

Should not be surprising. Atleast I didn't read any such thing. All I read Pakistan lost its part in 71 war. May be they have changed it now. Even if they have then it should not surprising. I am sure Indian kids would not have read something like that Pakistan had given a tough time to Indians when they tried to invade Pakistan in 1965 war.

I don't about the Pakistani educational system, but as a Muslim I can tell you that no personae is glorified as a saint in Islam and if anyone makes such a claim or glorifies someone, according to Islamic law they are to be rebuked and made to see the error of their ways.

maybe my post wasn't very clear. i'm as skeptical about the indian media as any sane person would be. i was infact trying to verify if what i'd read was infact what is being thought in schools in pakistan

BS. You were taunting Adnan. If you wanted to verify that assertion, you would have gone to a trustworthy source, which, on this issue, Adnan is not likely to be. Nothing wrong with that, lord knows I've taunted him often enough here, but at least have the guts to admit it.

I wanted to point out about the Sufis, but Oakman has already done that for me. Some dargahs (the one at Ajmer is the only one I remember off the top of my head) are worshipped at not only by Muslims, but also Hindus.

That is interesting. So you're saying that the Hindus and the Sufis venerate the same Saint? Also, Muslims are not considered Muslim if they worship anything other than God. Its one of the pillars of the religion. They'd be considered blasphemers.

Yes. Also, I'm not an expert on the matter, but Sufism in India is a syncretic collection of beliefs. Here is another, more recent, probably more famous saint venerated by Hindus and Muslims alike (and Christians and Zoroastrians for good measure): Shirdi Sai Baba[^]
