Generally things that may offend somebody/anybody should be in soapbox, where it generally appears to be ok. Example : I don't believe in God/Allah/Baked Beans The arguments then ensue. Be sure to be able to back your views, and that is ok. Do not hit and run, that is do not disagree, then insult and refuse to explain why you are expressing a different view. Believe me, most people will disagree with your views, but will be prepared to listen/argue/respond sensibly if you explain why you hold them. Some do not do this and are widely hated for it! As for the lounge, it is a venerable thing, some members can get away with things that noobs cannot. Also, I can riff someone like Ravel,Mustafa Ismail Mustafa or Anna-Jayne Metcalfe because of knowing them well, even in the lounge. In the lounge, keep it polite, interesting, novel or amusing. (You will be told when they ain't!)

Hey now don't go changing the rules. If people in here have to back up what they are saying the soapbox will be dead by morning..... As such, I proclaim myself King of the Moon.
All hail to the King. Now get back to your kingdom and let us know when it's safe to return there. :)

Short answer: Chris has everyone under control in the Lounge; in the Soapbox, the inmates are revolting. ;)

I am new to codeproject forums. I see there are two forums for general discussions Lounge and Soapbox. I read the description about both forums but still I am unclear about the difference between soapbox and lounge as I see some posts in the lounge which clearly belongs to soapbox, but still not sure.

I've found Soapbox threads to go longer than Longue threads in general. For instance, take your own post and see how long it went :)

Does the length of forum matter? I see the quality of thoughts/words/opinion in lounge is more better than the soapbox. By the way I am member here since 2-3 days so it is possible I may not know the truth/fact. :-)

Soapbox discussions do have a habit of being long-winded, and heated. This is to be expected considering the subjects under discussion. So you often see discussions over a hundred messages in a thread over 2 or more days. And there is no limit on message count, duration of discussion, or indeed subject. BUT, if you are easily offended, then the soapbox might not be for you. Otherwise, welcome, come have some fun.
