Are we excited to get Windows 7

For now no... but I am excited to know what Windows 7 has got to offer in its beta which of course will be discussed heavily here :) But, today I'd be installing Ubuntu Intrepid IBEX to replace my Fedora 9.

yeah, they say that it is best operating system ever & screenshots say we have many great gui changes coming on the way, sort of seen in sci-fi moves :-)

I can't say for sure if it is the best, but I have seen far too many Ubuntu fan boys and so, why not give it a try? I've tried fedora and OpenSUSE so far and liked both of them so far. Let me see what Ubuntu has to offer I'd be damned if I see UI like sci-fi movies. My 19inch LCD would look gorgeous then :-D

Yeah even if Windows 7 doesn't break any new grounds, I would atleast expect it to be predictable. That wasn't the case with Vista. Once when I installed Alcohol 120% in friend's laptop, it started showing BSOD every time I started it due to some driver failure. He got furious on me. From then on I decided to practise caution and read personal reviews before I touch any advanced version of Windows. Till then, I am happy with SP2 :)

I don't get how can a poorly written, buggy, memory-leaking, BSOD-producing third-party driver is Vista's (Microsoft's) fault?

Well I love to embrace new technology and have been using windows since 3.0 and programming windows since 3.1, so I have an affinity to use ever new version that comes out. I love UI and the Windows 7 UI esp taskbar layout is nice and some of the UI features are cool, sliding etc. Like the way you can 'shake' a window to minimize/maximize. Paint improved, Word improved. So far so good, I'm going to installed VS 2008 and test for speed. Oh and explorer has been improved.

It works well with Windows XP, and it never complained... won't you expect it to work with the next higher version? And BSOD is Windows home made crap.

If the changes between vesions are that grand as the changes between XP and Vista... of course not. If the version you used made for Vista, or XP? (Of course, for XP) Is it compatible with Vista? Ever heard of WINE? Well ever wondered how Linux allows you to beautifully dual boot with any OS be it be Windows 98, Mac OS or XP or even Vista. And what's the point, Linux is not called "successor" of Windows or Windows Linux. Vista is the successor of Windows XP.

To hell I care. I am a customer and I don't really give a damn. That's the point. Ok I accept, being a customer, I am a n00b. Else I would write my own OS. And sure it won't have any BSOD in it. You can't blame a customer for not knowing things like BSOD, etc. I paid for Alcohol 120% which worked in XP smoothly. And when you advertised me that Vista can run XP applications using a thing called Compatability mode, won't I expect it to run in Vista.
