So, I installed the 30 day trial and I have to say that I am pretty satisfied so far. It installed fast, sets up really easy and seems to do the job it sets out to do. For the $24 I think it will be worth it.

Why would I pay $24 when Thunderbird, Opera and others can handle NNTP for free? PS: My company has moved from Thunderbird to Outlook 2007 last year ... thanks, now everything is more slow than it was before and I can't access my emails from other platforms than Windows - except though the shitty web access :(

Since I am in Outlook almost all day and use it very heavily for other other collaboration stuff, putting the NNTP into there makes sense for me. I was merely providing an update to a posting I had done earlier on Thursday because a few folks expressed interest in knowing how it went.

One app for both. Tbird's not an option for me since it doesn't get along well with the private nntp server I use. Every other NNTP client works but tbirds devs insist they're in the right and that the proper response to getting headers out of sequence is to stop downloading posts until the user clicks download again. I never figured out how to make opera's client not default as a browser tab the last time I played with it. Nix that. ATM I've using windows mail (aka OE for vista) as hobsons choice.

Did you try importing old nntp message files?

So far I was not able to locate an option to do that. I do admit though that the configuration options are a bit slim on this app. It asks you for the standard NNTP server configurations (the dialogs look almost exactly like the ones in OE) and that's it. The add-in asks you for a base folder in which to place the messages and then as you add servers and subscribe to groups it just adds folders below that and fills them with the messages. I built a new PST file to isolate my news traffic and used that as my base folder. You use the Outlook view options to arrange your downloaded messages into what ever view you happen to want (I like threaded discussions view on news groups) and off you go.

Ask them to install exchange unified messaging. Then you'll be able to access your email via a sh***y voice mail system as well. I've heard a demo from a coworker who guinea pigged it, it does a really good job of spelling out domain specific terms not in its DB.
