Further to my earlier thread, it's made me start to think about my provider and I think I might be able to do better, the breakdown policy will be cancelled at the very least and I'll arrange it myself. What companies can people recommend to join/avoid? (UK) My insurance is currently with Direct Line, and breakdown cover with Green Flag thru Direct Line. As always, cheers for your responses guys.

Mine was cheapest through Zurich. All the big advertisers like Churchill, Norwich Union and Direct Line that claim to save you money were much more expensive...

The best idea is to try the price comparison sites: www.gocompare.com[^] www.insurancesupermarket.com[^] www.comparethemarket.com[^] They do tend to save people some money. Disclaimer - while I do not work for any of the 3 sites above they all intergrate with our software on behalf of some of the insurers we work with. This is also why I won't recommend individual insurers :)

Nope, but we did have a good laugh at that when it was released :)

I have been with Churhill for a lot of years, always had good service. I decided this time to go to a website that lets you comparr prices and found Churchill at a third off so I rang them, had a chat and was put through to a nice guy in Retentions. Price match! I noticed the same in the US. The only way I can see the claimed $300-500 average savings is if they're comparing 6mo quotes to year quotes, or are saving you money by reducing your coverage significantly.
