Circuit City fails to be wanted, will now be liquidated[^] Half-empty shelves, no selection, horrendous prices, poor layout. The best thing to come out of Circuit City in the last 10 years will be its final liquidation sale.... Good riddance.

Well, I'm glad you've got a job. That must be a nice cosy feeling. It's not so good for the poor people who are just about to lose their jobs. How's that new year spirit going there?

Can't say I am surprised. But, the folks at the local one were always very help the two or three times that I've visited it in the last six or seven years.

I was in one just last night. They always seemed a distant cousin to Best Buy or Frys, to me.

That's true. As a retail store veteran myself, I should say I am against the store but I support the troops.

They used to (up to 3 years ago) have pretty good sale prices compared to BestBuy and CompUSA. Being a 10 minute drive from my home, they were a convenient alternative to mail-order since there was no shipping involved and NH (I lived across the border in MA) has no sales tax. Today I just stare with disbelief at the retail prices in Toronto, not to mention the ever popular GST and PST. :) /ravi

Circuit City is where I had one of my most aggravating shopping experiences. I went to buy a washing machine and the salesman basically refused to sell it to me, answer any questions or even give me a price. My then 14-year-old daughter was with me and got a kick out of me screaming at the moron. She called this afternoon and asked if I was happy about the news. (A similar thing happened at Future Shop a year or so later--I found the VCR I wanted, but it was obviously the loss leader and the salesman refused to answer questions about it or to sell it to me. When I tried to look at it, he tried to physically block me. It was bizarre.)
