    For those of you thinking I've lost it. Nope. This place is just boring. I'm going to shake it up. It's so predictable I can tell you with near certainty what 50% of tomorrows post will be. Nobody here really cares. They close the browser and leave. So why not shake it up and stir the pot... I don't know... why not? :laugh: I've finally come to see this playground for what it is. What it is is hilarious. Guys like Jim Crafton, Juan Ramos, Colin, Vector, Ray, Gary, Trollslayer, Mustafa, Dan, Mike and the rest. You know you are. I don't have to list you but you know who you are. You guys are real. You talk, to don't complain incessantly about the people who read your articles and their dumb questions. You post real stuff. You talk about your life the parts of your life that you value. You share stories that tell us about you as a person, thinker and human being. You share humor. You share pain. You share loss. You share what keeps life real. Even John Simmons is starting to actually develop educated well-formed thoughts about how managers and companies are screwing up stuff with Dilbert-like ignorance. That's the stuff that's real. You guys that cast the votes and make these glib and ignorant comments without even asking a question to inquirer what the OP meant are what is making this place hard to stomach at times. You are supposed to smart, educated, patient engineers and scientists. You are not supposed to missile-lock on one view but you should be open to them all. You don't have to agree but if you don't agree... show your education by at least adding more than 1 sentence to your low vote. NO! The votes don't bother me. They really don't. What gets me is that you have allowed yourself to become a spectator in life and you have forgotten you are a participant. Sometimes people share things that mean something to them. Sometimes they are celebrating something of historical importance or personal significance. Don't just blow it away with a low vote because you are too lazy to understand that even though their view is not your view they chose to share it with you. It's that they wanted to be right. It's not they needed a trail of red replies making them legends in their own minds at all. Instead, people share things here so you can get to know them. You can learn about them. You can celebrate with them. Your can artfully and articulately disagree with them. But all too often what I see here now is that people don't read something gain an appreciation for the OP they read something to come to one of 3 c

      OK, step away from the keyboard. Back, back. Easy. Don't panic. Take a deep breath, exhale, now do it again. And again. I think you take things too seriously. Ease up and laugh a little. You'll feel better. BTW, I don't think I qualify as being a kid, since I have 17 grandchildren.

        You know I cannot step back. I get emails from a lot of people who have left this place. Great people. They are gone. Sure others will come but... I've just decided... screw it. It's my lounge. I'm going to make a stand and if I stand alone then I'm alone. But oh well. I have a keen hunch you are not the person I'm speaking too though. :rose:

          I get emails from people who left lots of places and I myself have left places, too. That's life. Taking an internet forum too seriously is not very healthy, but it's your call.

            Gosh! What can I say? Things change. You are right it isn't the same as it was. I remember great conversations with Anna, Paul (who I still follow on Twitter, but it isn't quite the same - He's moved to Ireland, got married and has a little girl now), Roger and Shog. I remember the increadibly insiteful debates had with Ian Darling (who I met at a conference dinner a couple of years back). I still follow Meg's photography from time-to-time on Flickr. I try and stay out of the soapbox these days - It is just a giant pissing contest. Very little insiteful debate any more. Karl and Jorgen don't join in so much these days so its pretty much gone to the trolls. I'm still involved in my user groups - They take up most of my free time, since some folk decided that I should be chairman (or maybe it was that I was the only one mad enough to do it). I don't do Toastmasters any more as it was all getting a bit much. I was at the hospital yesterday and today to get a test done (24h heart monitor) so I'll probably find out in a few months what the result is. Last time I had a 24h heart monitor test done it took two years to find out what the result was. So, some food for thought - I'm happy to talk about any of these things. And more.

                Rex, you are taking all this far too seriously... Most people don't reveal their innermost thoughts and secrets to their closest of real-life friends (and sometimes even their partners), let alone to online friends. Yes, things are different here, even in the couple of years I've been hanging around, but pining for the old days won't bring them back. If you want to share with us, then go crazy. I for one enjoy reading your posts (although sometimes I wish you would get to the point just a liiiiiiiiiiiittle more quickly ;P ), but really, people only share what they are comfortable sharing. I don't know about your lounge at home, but mine is usually used for mundane discussions about dinner, work, the kids, where we are camping next etc, with the occasional deep and meaningful. This lounge seems to be the same. Just my 2 cents...

                      No. I'm not. But I've decided it's time to screw with people. So far it's working. This place has become so predictable and boring it's time for someone or some many(s) to shake the tree.

                          Even if I do... who cares. Seriously this place is could be reproduced and I really mean it with a decent bot and some average AI.

                          If you like this message don't vote me a 5 unless you thought of it. I'm not some wanna-be trying to get stupid votes to get an MVP here. The fact is I should be an MVL "Most Valuable Lounger" because ... everybody can put there feet on me to make themselves comfortable and I'm fine with that. The vote-count MVP system is broken and flawed. MVPs should be elected by peers in the group who understand what's really happening in the specific forums. I love Chris but vote's should have no place in ranking MVPs. NONE! - - - {Mark Salsbery approves this message.}

                            I can't be troubled to read anything that long. And I just realized that I've had no caffeine (sp?) for several days, so a witty come-back will not be forthcoming from this quarter.

                                Don't take it all too seriously. I'm just tired of the boredom. So I'm going to start pulling some chains. It's so stupidly predictable around here now. Time for some fun. I get so bored here. Most of the time what I read here today is what I read yesterday or the day before. People seem to like that. Well time to change all that. :-D BOOORING!!!!! :zzz: Care to join me? Seriously. We can serious at times but I think it's time to stir up some junk and have some good ol shenanigans and fun stupid stuff. :wtf: :laugh:

                                      You've not been here very long then. (Less than one month apparently) Back in the day the servers would creak and scream out in pain at the size of the messages. Good quality too (most of them).

                                        To be honest, Hubby was watching all my posts like a hawk. He thought any little thing might prevent me from getting a job. After a few months he has really let loose; he even gave me a blog topic tonight and I have not blogged since October! Now that my Big Brother/You-Aren't-My-Real-Dad seems to feel comfortable, I'll rock this Lounge like my personal beatch. :)

                                          code-frog does not post as often as he used to due to personal reasons, but they are often thought provoking. When he posts, I make sure to take the time to read the entire posts--I do not always do that.
