      AJAX = Asynchronous Javascript And XML. There is an implementation of AJAX in ASP.NET that uses the ASP.NET postback model. AJAX as a general concept doesn't require this and really just relies on getting XML documents on the internet and manipulating them in javascript. In fact, you don't even need XML as you can get any content.
