James Hansen’s Former NASA Supervisor Declares Himself a Skeptic - Says Hansen ‘Embarrassed NASA’, ‘Was Never Muzzled’, & Models ‘Useless’ [^] Nothing new here then, just confirming what we have all known, well, almost all, for a long time.

"Theon joins the rapidly growing ranks of international scientists abandoning the promotion of man-made global warming fears." Finally! However... Do you remember the ozone fiasco? And I forget what came before that. When AGW falls apart, they will move on to something else as if nothing ever happened. Just like they did from the ozone to AGW. Because it has nothing to do with the environment, it has everything to do with the environmental movement.

Yep. We should sue these bastards for fraud and strip them of their qualifications. That would stop the bastards doing it again.

No, I remember that scientists showed that aerosols were depleting the ozone layer. As a result, there was an international treaty signed to phase out the use of the damaging aerosols. As a consequence, the ozone layer is gradually recovering. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Protocol[^]

It's gradually recovering? That's great! Do they have data showing when it will be fixed? Just think, after 3.5 billion years we could have a hole-less ozone layer. :-D

Not so much aerosols as propellants and refrigerants, mostly chlorofluorocarbon compounds related to Freon. And you are correct that they were phased out as a result of the Montreal treaty. In this case no computer models were injured, as it was demonstrable that the CFCs broke down O3, and their presence in the atmosphere at the ozone layer was measurable.

Actually, the ozone hole is a pretty poor choice on your part, as the mechanism of ozone breakdown by CFCs (Freon and Friends) was easily demonstrable in the laboratory, the concentration of CFCs in the high atmosphere was measurable (and measured) and the rapid expansion of the ozone hole dating from approximately the time of the introduction of Freon was well documented. Not a good analogy at all for AGW.

Proof of their presence at that altitude was all that was needed. O3 is highly corrosive and breaks down in the presence of most things, hell that's it's job.

I knew that it did lead to the phasing out of CFCs. Maybe it wasn't the best example, since they did get a win there. And obviously fewer CFCs is a good thing. Broken clock and all that. Point taken.
