Why was she allowed to have fertility treatment in the first place? If she had 6 sprogs she should have kicked out on her arse and I'm surprised that any insurance company, given the circumstances, would have either paid for the treatment or the delivery. This is one fucking selfish family: they'll expect everyone else to support them.

I think you may have been enjoying the "benefits" of State run health care for far too long. You have forgotten that in some parts of the world you can (and must) actually pay for these services without getting permission. Evidently, the lady can afford to have as large a family as she wishes. A remarkably bigoted remark on your part BTW.

Yeah, but what quality of life can you expect as one of the children? I don't know about you, but I'd much rather be an only child than one of fourteen. At least my parents would be able to spend a decent abmount of time with me...

Yeah, I notice so many families in the US with four kids. Not so much here, but it still happens. Single mothers obviously have tons of them, only because it pays.

I agree. I was an only child and while there were times when it was lonely, I think in the end it made me very self sufficient when it comes to finding and making friends as well as being able to find value in spending time alone. I never wanted a sibling at all. As the older one you always get asked to babysit and have a younger one getting into your stuff and as a younger one you typically find yourself as the third wheel. Of course this all depends on your family dynamic and the years between you and your sibling. [edit] To the people that say you NEED to have at least 2 so they can keep each other company... yeah, there's a great option... Have a second kid just because you need a baby sitter :) [/edit]

I agree. Even though this is not something typically paid for my medical insurance riders, I still think that it should be restricted to those that NEED it, as in those that do not already have a fit child. The name 'treatment' implies that you are NEED of something that you cannot do on your own. That doe snot mean that you should have access to it just because you wore yours out :) Now, everyone get in line to tell em that the state has no right to mandate a woman's body and how I am standing in a slippery slope, and all that crap. To me fertility 'treatment' should be by prescription only just like birth control pills are. IN fact I am all for licensing the right to have a child in the first place. Available reproductive organs in my opinion are not enough to show responsible ability to raise a productive child.
