All empires fall at some point or the other. ALL of them. Australia has some serious bowling problems, and Ponting's captaincy over the last 2 years has left much to be desired. Full marks to South Africa though, it's not often a team goes into Australia and comes out victors in both versions of the game!

    Cheers, Vıkram.

I've never ever worked anywhere where there has not been someone who given the choice I would not work with again. It's a job, you do your work, put up with the people you don't like, accept there are probably people there that don't like you a lot, and look forward to the weekends.   - Josh Gray.

Warne and McGraw were irreplaceable and injuries and other problems with some of the lesser lights (Stuart Clarke, Brett Lee, Phil Jacques, Andrew Symonds...) haven't helped either. There is plenty of batting for the foreseeable future, but Australia has a serious shortage of world class young bowlers. I think Australia will go down in the rankings until the bowling improves.

it's more attitude problem now than talent. Australia was never short for talented cricketers.

We were beaten by a better team. Not the first time, wont be the last. Unlike Pakistan we can still hold our heads high because we dont cheat.

Australia is struggling against Kiwis too. With no Warne, McGrath, Hayden they look vulnerable. Ponting needs to change the way he captains the side(I am not an expert but this is what I feel.). But as an Indian, I am loving it. This makes our chance to be number one brighter.

Yep. Dont forget Gilly & Symonds. After 10+ years on the top it was always going to happen. The next few years will be a time of rebuilding

the underarm, the gloves last night, and that catch which spilled that time and he still claimed it "we don't cheat" thats nearly as bad as the time i was told "Australia isn't a racist country" had me in apoplexy that one :) Bryce

yadda yadda yadda. Thats the nature of the game, the umpire gave the wicket to Clarke, do you expect Haddin to go "oh wait Im not sure, can we check the replay?"! The Aussies don't cheat, sometimes the decisions go in our favor, sometimes they don't. That's cricket. The Packies on the other hand... ever seen a Paki umpire give one of their batsmen out LBW? It's solely because of them we now have the independent umpire rule now. And lets not forget pretty boy Akhtar pulling out of the last world cup after he went to England for private drug testing (and please, dont bother telling me about Shane's Mum :) ) Then we have the poms and the mints in '05. India's little habit of stepping on the ball with spikes Bob Wolmer's mysterious death It's a real shame that in the gentleman's game we have been so successful for so long that almost every other country has had to resort to calling us racist or cheaters. And when we do loose we cop endless shit about our attitude. You guys were the better team and won fair and square last light. Sames goes for SA and India last year. Act like gentlemen and be gracious in victory. Like we were.

pffft, we have Penny Wong. Not only gay but an asian, gay, leftie minister for Climate Change. I think Peter Garrett was a little put out by her. I saw an article on smh this morning which I cant find again in which Rudd was quoted from a soon to be published essay that Australia was in a unique position to lead the worlds economic rebound under his leftie leadership. May heaven help us all
