Just my luck that the day I decide to come in early (5:30) so that I could work in some peace and quite, every body comes in early. Fortunately we don't have set office times so I can leave the chaos that will ensue behind early and go home. :) :) It made me think, as developers what time(s) are you required to be at the office.

We have flexible timings too. I used to be in office by 11.30 and leave by 8-9. :)

I haven't done any professional software development for 25 years, but as an engineer I'm expected to be in the office by 7:00AM. Fortunately the boss ( the only other engineer in the company) usually drags his arse in by around 8, so I can get by with arriving around 7:15 or so. Of course, our office is unique, in that it includes a full kitchen and an excellent barbeque, so arriving early often means being drafted to cook breakfast for everyone. I try to avoid that, but arrive in time to get fed. It's a delicate thing, and timing is critical. Today we didn't do breakfast, but I narrowly escaped managing the barbeque at lunch by being tied up in the field until just before the roast came off the spit. Close call, that one... You programmers have it way too easy...

All jobs have high points and low. It's the balance that matters. Mine is mostly excellent, but it has its moments... :-D

required 9-4, with an hour for lunch between 11 and 2. "I normally only come in at 9/leave at 4" isn't an acceptable excuse to skip a meeting, etc.

I prefer driving in early to escape the scary traffic snarls and drive home a little late too; again to avoid the traffic snarls.

Well, my wife kicks me out around 7:30 AM, so I go to the office. From the bedroom, it's 2 doors down the hall on the left.
