    Interesting idea. I'm not very up on the Madoff hearings. I took it as face value from the congressman yelling at them, that they were just incompetent. Which doesn't really sound like the whole story. But I can't piece together what the SEC stood to gain from it, unless somebody there was paid off. But then why would all reps of the SEC play along?

      If they did nothing wrong, why claim executive privilege? Something really stinks in the Madoff deal, the SEC ignored him and the accountants that certified his books for far too long.

                I don't doubt that they're crooked as hell, I just don't see the angle. And if it was intentionally ignored, that suggests some really large and wide spread corruption, which also wouldn't surprise me.
