This was a sincere question. I really am trying to figure it out. And mistakenly thought people here were open to discussion. Thanks for letting me know that you think I'm not worth a valid reply.

So ? How does the number of people in the country define if it's a good idea or not for the country to have one set of laws ? This is an historical situation, it's not one that you guys came up with because you had lots of people.

And yet you complain about American imperialism when we graciously attempt to transplant our laws and lifestyle to the world. Even when we started as 13 separate and independent colonies, then States (as in self-governing countries), the fiolks who lived in Vermont lived very differently from each other and had very different concerns. In some ways that's even more true today. Why should there be a one-size fits all law that does not take into account differences? I am under the impression that Oz has two separate sets of laws that overlap only somewhat. Three, really since I do keep reading about New Siouth Wales having different laws than Queensland, etc. Are you sure everything is as homogenized as you seem to suggest?

There is a fellow that is suing the government for information on how the TARP funds are being spent. Jerry[^] is the fellow in question. He's not asking for money in the suit. He's volunteered at Katrina, Ground Zero, Lake Charles, never asked for anything. His website cause is to get more males involved in nursing, not a porn site. He's an ex military person and not a liberal. Now on to my point: He's tried to get onto Rush's show and was called unamerican by the screener. He tried Hannity's show and was asked if he was an angry liberal. Is this the meme of conservatives for attempting to find out how the banks are spending the trillions of taxpayer money they have? The reason I ask is there is a lot of uproar about Obama's plan, and those same conservative voices have applied the same to the TARP program, yet in the media conservatives seem to apply selective outrage. TARP funds setup by Bush is American, but Obama's is Socialist. Anyone have any views on what exactly the conservative position is on this subject?

Limbaugh and Hannity were both extremely critical of Bush caving on the bailout, just as they have been on republicans supporting Obama now. If this guy was treated as a liberal it was for entirely different reasons. Conservatives are opposed to all of this. Any stimulus needs to be purely in the form of tax breaks, taking money out of the hands of government and keeping it in the free market economy.

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

Don't mention it. I don't know how to produce any other kind, and don't care to learn. Which of course makes me ineligible for congress.
