NY Post: Chimp Victim Hanging Onto Life[^] What special and narcissistic fools are those who keep chimps, wolves, lions, and such. The people who keep dogs tied to a chain in the yard (and who ignore their constant barking) are bad enough, but the sort who keep these entirely dangerous animals are wicked.

Maybe they should be domesticated like the gray wolf was? Oh, wait, that's not possible...that's evolution... Sorry, I forgot.

"a 200-pound chimp who inexplicably went bananas" Glad to see the press took it seriously. Also they used the headline "CHIMP VICTIM HANGING ONTO LIFE" but said in the first paragraph that the wounds weren't life-threatening. Is the New York Post like the News of the World over here?

You could admit that you're a moron for not believing evolution.

I decided to let that one pass, but I certainly won't fault you for pointing it out.

Is there any newspaper (or broadcast news program) which isn't like News of the World when you really look at it?

You could admit you're a moron for refusing to stop talking about what you know nothing about. Also, what's this "belief" thingie doing here? You silly children like to pretend that you don't believe in "evolution" (which word has next to no meaning, and with which you folk continuously equivocate).

Actually, I DO know something about it. My auntie gave me two old biology textbooks from when she was in University, and I read one of them a few years ago. The theory is mathematically and biologically sound, is supported by palaeontological evidence, and has been observed many times in the laboratory. When you think about populations competing for food, habitats etc., and consider heredity and mutations, evolution becomes not only possible but inevitable. I mean, the whole reason organisms reproduce sexually is to produce offspring that are genetically unique! You need to see reason.

I've never said that. You should on no occasion consider your opponents to be identical.

Then you need to get with the 'modern evolutionary theoretical' program, or take the particular matter up with them.

The likes of me? What, someone who thinks that you should have a reason to believe something? Remember, I've spent a lot of time reading/watching a broad range of Creationist material, and have never once read anything by Charles Darwin. You must see reason! In 1983 a strain of Chlorella vulgaris evolved from being single-cellular to multicellular in a laboratory.

Why do you think humans share certain diseases with animals? Like, measles and tuberculosis from cattle, the rhinovirus from horses, influenza from ducks? It's because the pathogens mutate and evolve the ability to infect other species! HIV and SIV, over fifty diseases shared with dogs, CJD and BSE, Dengue fever, malaria, rabies. Stop being an idiot.

THE AVIAN FLU Highly dangerous, originated in birds, and a mutant strain has been demonstrated to infect humans. That's evolution, jackass.

MRSA - methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Was once vulnerable to the group of antibiotics known as the beta-lactams. It evolved the ability to NOT DIE when subjected to penicillin, cephalosporin, methicillin, oxacillin etc. I want you to explain to me how that could possibly have happened without the weaker individuals dying off and the stronger ones reproducing.
