iPod - catastrophic recovery
-
here is my problem: my hard drive crashed and was replaced :(( . I lost all data including my iTunes (songs, downloads, whatever was synch'ed with my iPod(s).) I only have my music and media content on the iPods themselves - 2 iPods to be specific. How can I restore the link (and files) between my iPods and my PC? Thanks in advanced, John John

Take a look at Anapod Copy Gear[^]. The site says "Anapod CopyGear is an easy-to-use, compact utility for copying music tracks, playlists, podcasts, photos, and videos from your iPod back to your PC. Perfect for recovering your PC music collection from your iPod, moving music between authorized computers, or just making a backup for safe keeping." Sounds like just what you need. :)

I can confirm that Copy Gear (and Anapod Explorer, which is their other iPod product, which integrates your iPod with Explorer) will copy your content back onto your PC.
Java, Basic, who cares - it's all a bunch of tree-hugging hippy cr*p

and DO NOT start iTunes - especially when auto-sync is checked. I did it once - not nice at all :sigh: greets Torsten
Also, don't agree to update a Mac formatted iPod on a Windows machine (or vice versa). Apple don't make it entirely clear that your iPod will be reformatted to Windows (or Mac) if the existing iPod format isn't the computer's format. Yeah.

Get a non-Apple MP3 player like a Creative Zen, pay $15 a month for Napster, and you don't have to worry about it. :)
