        Actually DAVE is Last Name in India, and First Name in UK / USA. mostly short-form of David.

                I was at school with two Dave brothers, they were from Gujarat (please excuse spelling, it was a long time ago) and I understood from them that it is a fairly common name in that region.

What I meant was that I understood that there were many Dave families in Gujarat, in the same way that there are many families in the Yorkshire region of the UK, whose family name ends with "thwaite", such as "Braithwaite" or "Clatterthwaite".
