A question came up at work .... Which do you build first. Your army of invincible robots or your Death Star? I go for the Death Star so you have an instantly usable item.

Joined Folding@Home 12 March 2009. Laptop probably not up to it but it's chugging away.

Sensible, it saves having to buy a garden shed for the invincible robots.

Death Star. It's no underground lair, but it'd do

Why not start with the robots and have them start building the Death Star as they come off the production line?

I would spend the time perfecting my Force Powers then kill my right hand man and replace him every five years, ensuring that no members of his family were alive. Then I would also examine the blueprints for any potential Death Star design and cover all access points that would lead to the core, (Or at least employ someone to put chicken wire over them. I would also design the corridors in the detention block to be smooth so that anyone attempting to escape would have no cover available. Further to that I would never actually board the Death Star, and certainly not if it was unfinished and had the plans stolen.

Who'll man it then? And I hope you design robots that don't have to speak into walkie-talkies to communicate amongst themselves.

Robots first. Set them on "kill beyond a shadow of a doubt and I mean completely atomize the little runts if they show up, like completely vaporized" and set them to guard the Death star building site. You can have the best of both worlds like that :)

You're talking a non-union job here then? Otherwise you'd have to start with a cup of tea and a bun.

Good idea. Then you don't have to build the Death Star with a break room. Or worry about OSHA or building inspectors. "Nope, nobody here, just us invincible robots."

Someone's gotta be the last to know, but why is it always me?

Definitely the invincible robots. If you build the Death Star first, those pesky rebels will find you and destroy it, you need the robots to keep them busy elsewhere.

With this kind of thinking, it's clear to me why you've never succeeded in building an Empire. Always build your army first, the more invincible the better. Otherwise, how are you going to get all the slaves you need to build the pyramids Death Star for you?

First you have to write the code! But I agree with others, build the bots then have them build the DS. That should give you time to write invicible code. :yikes:

Definitely that first. Because they can then build your Death Star for you (what, you think the Empire used illegal immigrants to build it? I think not!), while you sit back, sip a mojito, and have Halle Berry give you a back massage.

Note to any Death-Star / All Conquering Spaceship self-builders: Try and avoid any standard interface connectors (DIN, IDE, SATA etc..) as this could make it easier for any rebels / humanoid resistance to connect to your vital control systems. ... Probably best to avoid anything binary / ASCII really... Same reason....
