And exactly how many people had their taxes raised under Obama? 5%? State and local isn't Federal and has what to do with Obama? I do see this as targeted against Obama, so its a federal issue no?

as much as I despise Obama, this isn't a protest against him. it is as I said, a protest against excessive taxation: state, local and federal.

Interesting bit of propaganda. How do you reconcile your support for local businesses with conservative support for policies that favor Wal-Mart? How can you support local business while protesting balanced tariffs as protectionism? China has tariffs against us. So does the EU. This tea party is one steaming pile of sour grapes. There wasn't as much objection when Reagan, Bush1, Clinton, and Bush2 ran up the debt. A bunch of sore losers I say.

It is also not exclusively about the current administration. In fact, if anything, it is more anti-republican than anti-democrat which is why they are not being allowed to participate. The democrats are who they are and provide a political voice for a certain portion of the electorate. Republicans have betrayed those who support them, time and time again. If they had done what the were elected to do, we wouldn't be where we are now. And, yeah, its a little finger in the eye of all the socialist who think they now have full control of the country. The country is going in the wrong direction. That needs to be pointed out by someone.

Overlooking the fact that Obama has run it up more than all of the above added together... Actually, many (myself included) complained about the Bush/Paulson/Geithner bailout run-up as well.

He had a surplus on the current budget, but not on the overall national debt, which still grew under his administration.

This is the one scheduled for Indianapolis[^] on 4-15-2009. Some 18 (as best I can tell) scheduled in Indiana, may be more. One of the guests will be the guy who does the uTube video[^]. Gregg Garrison, local conservative talk show host (he was the prosecutor that nailed Mike Tyson for rape) will also be there. No politicians were invited and at least one politician's request (conservative, Mike Pence) was denied a slot on stage.

Actually, only since about 1940. Most of the initial debt was incurred to pay for WWII (War Bonds, later Us Savings Bonds) It began to grow again steadily in 1980 [^]

Fair enough. I'll just say it appears to be targeted at Obama when listening the rhetoric surrounding it in the media. But fair enough.

I know, and we can say that Reagan ran it up more than all preceding presidents put together. From Washington to Carter.

Well, unlike some gay rights protest somewhere, these will not be taken serously by the media, ridiculed by the left, and ignored by everyone else, but even that makes the point as much as any thing else. There is opposition, and it is being denied fair access to the processes of democracy. Sooner or later, it will have to come up with an affective means of expressing itself that everyone will listen to.

It is inevitable. You cannot treat people who represents the social and political traditions the nation was founded upon with such contempt while promoting and encouraging the most anti-American vitriole imaginable. I have no hope that these protests will have an affect, but they do represent a last sincere attempt to be civil about it.

Ours is in Annapolis, I recieved a facebook invitation, I'll take the day off and bring the family. I plan on brining expensive beer and some cheap tea, I'll throw the tea into the Cheasapeak and drink the beer and chant anti-Obama (anti-Makulski, anti-Cardin, anti-Hoyer) slogans. I may go and buy a book at a book store, or a new computer periferal. Eat at the local food niches. I know socialists burn business harass people and are profane: Conservative protests have to be fun and support our local businesses... and be a family activity. :)
