I am currently in florida but currently considering a DREAM project in the Wash DC area. Itll be great for the career. Im concerned about beinvg away from wife for long periods of time. We have no kids. Please share your experience with this..Thanks.
Before we had kids, my wife had the opportunity to work on an island up far north Queensland... it was her dream job, so I encouraged her to take it! We were apart for 6 months, during which time we saw each other three times. It was lonely, and the phone bills were huge... That's my experience!

That's how I met most of the women I should have married. My ex encouraged me to travel, in order to increase my job security (and hopefully, income). What I didn't know until much later, of course, was that she was cheating on me every time I left town. Ah, the opportunities missed...

That's just wrong... If she'd let you know, you could have been having the time of your life!!!

Yeah, that was my thought, too. After I found out, though, there was one girl in Denver who I met in Cheyenne I'll never forget. She was at the bar at the Holiday Inn on Fox Farm Road, and a young Air Force kid was hitting on her. I shmoozed myself into the conversation, sang a few karaoke songs, and went to my room. At about 3 AM she called - the Air Force brat was in her shower and she begged me to come to her room. How could I refuse? When the kid left the shower, - in nothing but a towel - imagine his surprise when he saw me sitting on the bed with Louise, holding a glass of the champagne he'd bought. He excused himself, dressed properly, and left. Louise asked me to stay the night, just in case... No, nothing happenned - we slept, we cuddled, I snored. I told my wife about the encounter and she approved of my behavior, saying that it was a gentlemanly thing to do, and honorable. Later, after I learned of my ex's escapades, things changed between Louise and me. What a wonderful lady - I do hope that life since has been good to her. When I got laid off in '92 the travel ended, and I lost track of her... :sigh:

Wow Roger, just think with your devilish good looks and chivalry if you were just 10% more evil you could have worn off little Roger to a nub by now. ;)

post a picture of her. Seriously, to stay together you need to be together. Regularly. Very few long distance relationships survive.
