Could someone explain the status system?
-
I've currently got 506 messages, and have been a member for 2.5 years. According to the little snippet on my profile I should be Gold. To be precise, this bit: Each 500 messages posted adds one level, and if a member has posted a message then each year of membership adds 1 level until the member hits Silver Each year of membership adds 1 level - check, putting me at Silver Each 500 messages posted adds one level - check. So, which level should I be? This is a little confusing, and I could do with some clarification
-
If I recall the status is not a dynamic thing but rather a routine that Chris runs periodically so it may take a few weeks... Don't worry, Chris will calculate retroactively so the bonus $$ paid to all gold members each month will be accurate. ;P
Have you gotten this months Bonus money? I was a little sad to see that it was significantly less than lasts. I've been investing it with a good friend in Nigeria, but I'm concerned that I won't be able to make this months payment.

How many push-ups can you do? That's also a factor in qualifying. Also, you need to be able to successfully pass the 283 question Test For Gold Members.

Silver is the best you can do without an article. I recommended he take that first comma out awhile back because it changes the meaning. That hasn't happened though. The intent of the line is that the most you can get to without posting an article is Silver. The rules changed last year - I won't get into that because I'm still a tad bitter about losing my Gold status. Cheers, Drew.

Not true. You can't get gold from time in service, you can from message count OR article count. trust me[^]. I've yet to write a single article. I'm gold.

Actually, while the algorithm may seem straightforward, this is really a time consuming operation. Have you ever seen a roomful of hamsters counting on their fingers?

I had hit Silver, and at that point I hadn't posted. Since every 500 posts adds a level, then I had thought I had hit the criteria for Gold Unless the 'get a job' comment was a joke, then it was completely unnecessary. For your information, I'm trying to; it's a little difficult when I'm still studying for my AS levels

You're Gold because you were grandfathered under the old rules. It seems if someone had 1500 messages as of when the rules changed last year, they kept their gold status. I used to be gold too, but lost it because I was under the 1500 mark when the rules changed. Cheers, Drew.

Sorry CF. Definitely intended as a joke... I guess I should have used a Now Get Off My Lawn instead :-O
