There is always Windows Live Messenger, if you don't mind MS software.

Is it really possible to compose SMS messages in the computer and send them from the phone using Windows Live Messenger? After a fast glimpse on the possibilities I've not seen it... Thank you!

Sorry, my bad. :-O It has IM. The Manager Software for my Mobile Broadband Dongle does however, have SMS. Mine is T-Mobile, but I would think that the other providers do too. However, take a look at Email to SMS[^] to see if any of them fit your requirements.

Hello all, I would avoid to write the SMS's in the phone keyboard... Is any software out there that would allow me to do it? Free would be also great... My goal is to be faster in answering and to be able to use the computer's keyboard... Thank you in advance...

Something from Jeyo (Mobile Extender I think?) lets you send from MS Outlook via a windows phone. Also allows you to sync your text messages with an Outlook PST file. I use it and its somewhat buggy but haven't seen anything else similar.

If you have Nokia phone, then Nokia PC Suite allows you to write and send message from PC, via your Cell Phone over a cable / bluetooth connection. You will also have your contact book from your phone. or you can user this (Microsoft SMS Sender)[^]

Long time back I was looking for such application. Then the thought hit me, this only works if I am in front of the computer. Also the nature of SMS is to be mobile. I reckon it will complement but not replace it.

If you're typing on a PC, why not use one of the many web-to-phone SMS services? Doesn't google have a free one?

                  Best wishes, Hans

Google used to have a free one[^].  Actually, they still do - Google acquired GrandCentral[^] a while back, converted it to Google Voice[^], and now offer free SMS - send and receive - through that. Gotta say, it's pretty slick; my wife loves SMS, but I hate typing on those little phone keyboards, so when she "texts me", i just fire up GV and reply.

There are various service providers that allow you to send sms through them via their own APIs, a quick google should bring some up (e.g. http://zeepmobile.com/[^]). Some are free and some aren't, looks like that one is though I haven't used it.

Had a Motorola V3 Razor and couldn't find a way to connect to it with the computer. Eventually found Cell Phone Manager www.mobtime.com/[^]. Works quite nicely in connecting to the phone and has the capability of sending messages through the phone. Have to connect it, but it works well enough. Don't know if it would be able to use your phone, but there's other software like it.
