A while back someone posted a link to some 50 odd classic arcade games that could be either downloaded or played online. Anybody still have such a link and would you share it with a dog such as myself so that I could tempt my children with the same fun I enjoyed so much as a kid? Anyone remember that classic "Kung Fu" that was such a fun game. Probably seem lame now but I enjoyed it at the time. :)

I must be the oldest one here!! I missed my old Atari 400 that I recently bought one off of eBay... Centipede. Pac-Man. Asteroids. Dig Dug. Slightly more obscure: Star Raiders. And my all-time favorite: Adventure!

So what's the story with this site? It looks like I may have gotten a bunch of spyware when I went there. It's also really annoying. I was able to download one ROM (after wading through delays and advertising) and now it appears to be hung up.

Sorry to hear that you had such problems. I have used the site for many years without problem. Though after your experiance I will be checking my machine. Please note I have no affiliation or involement with that site. For my security whenever I visit anywhere I use the following besides the usual firewall/antivirus/antispyware. 1. Firefox with latest patches. 2. Peergaurdian 2. There are many emu sites out there, if you find a better/safer one, please share. Thanks Tim Hunuman MCP, MCAD.Net, MCSD.Net

I remember looking forward to play this game when I was a kid. The Atari cartridge had the drawing of a samurai and his sword ready to swing. What a fool was I. It ended up beeing one of the games I never played. It just sit there on the shelf building up dust. Until I finally grew old enough to understand the game, play, and finally have fun with it.

Hmmm I don't know if you're the oldest but those games you mention came *way* after the first game I remember playing which was Pong on a tv and it didn't play any other games, just pong. Probably pong 1.0 or something.

Have a look at mame[^]. This free open source program is an emulator for old games but does not include the games themselves for copyright reasons. The games or "roms" have to be downloaded from elsewhere, although a few games are available for download from the mame site itself where they have been able to get the all-clear from the original creators. A rom is basically a zip file containing the information from the rom chips of the original arcade machines, although some of the data is taken from other media. The idea of the project is to emulate and preserve the games for posterity so for example you could play the original table-top version of pacman where the display is inverted for player 2. A good starting point for finding roms might be www.mameworld.info[^]. As far as I know it's ok for other sites to host the roms as long as they are not hosted alongside mame itself. Checking on the copyright details for each game is left to the user. The mame project has been running for years and is as close to the real thing as you will get
