I got it on the 5th. Started download before I went to work and it was done when I got home. Installing it today and so far everything looks good. From preliminary observations I see they have fixed several issues that bugged the dog poop out of me in the Beta version. Mike

I think it added a couple as well. 1 - freaks out when added to a domain. (Haven't figured out if it's me or a bug, but other people are having the same problem. -- Not a problem in the Beta.) 2 - can't copy a configured profile to the default profile. (Also not a problem with the Beta, also other people with the same problem.) I've made a posting on technet, hopefully I'll have a solution soon.

When I first installed the Beta I backed up everything using Acronis. I thought I had all bases covered in case I wanted to go back to XP. After installing Beta I just wanted to check to be sure I could still get to my backups and tried to install Acronis, No such luck it would not install. I also tried to install MagicISO and it would almost lock up my machine, I ended up having to go into safe mode to uninstall it. There were several other minor issues, but those I could have lived with. Other than that I liked it enough to stay with it as my primary OS and have not regreted it. Luckily both of those problems have been fixed in this version. Mike

Yeah I may have spoke to soon...When I installed SQL 2008 Express and Visual Studio 2008 Pro I got the "...Known Compatibility issues..." dialog. But it does state that SP1 needs to be installed so thats what I'm doing now.

Thanks if I run into issues I know where to go now. Mike

Someone got the Win7RC on may 5? my latest Win7 build is 7077. I've started to download from MS, but it's sooooo slow, then I will do the favour to MS and download from some torrent website.

I got my copy last night from my home desktop (a linux machine). It took about 90 minutes to download at 10:00 PM EST. I have not burned it to a dvd to install it on the laptop yet.

7100 is the highest build number I read about. :)

I downloaded Windows 7 x64 RC from MSDN Downloads last Thursday and installed it under VMWare Fusion on my Mac. I installed VS2008 + SP1 (it wouldn't install SQL Server 2005, but I don't really care), Office 2007, various other apps (Google Chrome, Beyond Compare, e text-editor, Git, TortoiseGit, 7-zip, GnuWin32, Visual Assist and Avast). No problems aside from the SQL Server one and also I needed the Google Chrome beta release (as opposed to the stable release) for some reason (I didn't with Windows 7 beta, but I used the 32-bit version of that - might make the difference), Microsoft Update's done its thing happily enough and I've stuck with the Windows 7 betta fish background, despite the various psychedelic options Microsoft have added in the RC.

Java, Basic, who cares - it's all a bunch of tree-hugging hippy cr*p

Which Mac? Macbook or pro. Vista on my macbook pro on a vm just crawls. If W7 does not I will go ahead and install it.

15" Unibody MacbookPro (2.4GHz, 4GB RAM). It certainly doesn't crawl - Visual Studio 2008 is as quick under Windows 7 as it is under XP on my HP workstation @ work. I've given the VM 1.5GB of RAM, which seems to be sufficient.

I experienced extremely long login times due to Anti-Virus issues. Until my vendor releases a Weaven version I am using McAffee's "beta" for Win 7 ( It's free) . My long logins are now gone.
