Doubt it, too cold and windy I expect.

Reminds me of this old joke: A scientist challenged God to a creativity duel. So God picked up some sand, blew into it and created man. The scientist said, "Not bad. Now watch me do the same thing a little differently," Whereupon the scientist picked up some sand. God stopped him and said, "Wait a minute. Before you start, get your own sand."

        I love that old joke.

Well, you might get some microscopic pointless little things I guess. It would be reasonable to assume that life thrives under earth-like conditions though wouldn't it?

I like how it brings up the Forbidden Question, "What is the origin of the Universe?"

Here[^] Halfway there! Once RNA is synthesised in a jar, we are capable of starting life anywhere in the universe. After all man has now taken 40 years, nature had Billions, so it seems life is inevitable given the right chemicals and enough time.

Ah yes, but the argument against that is that planets don't start at the same time. Hence some will have been born, had really quite clever life develop, and probably ended by being sucked up by a black hole or other space nasty. Hence if the technology could exist, it almost certainly will exist. In which case we'd expect to have been visited by our evolutionary superiors which I don't believe for one moment we have. All from the scale of space like. I'm starting to sound like a nerd. Oh, I am.

Define earth-like conditions? Life thrives in alot of strange conditions. There are bacterias eating sulfuric acid, organisms living in boiling underwater vulcanos, bacterias living in and eating solid rock. We are making incorrect assumptions IMO. We look at how life looks on earth, and think -"they would never survive in another environment" Ofcourse they wouldn't, they are adapted to this environement after millions of years. If an envirionment can sustain even the smallest forms of life, I'm sure evolution will find a way to optimize that into larger forms given enough time.

It's stuff like that, along with the sheer blinding size of space which convinces me there must be life on other planets. Too far away to be reached, ever, unfortunately.

There is absolutely no question that life exists elsewhere. With billion upon billions of stars, it would be complete nonsense to think this tiny planet is the only place in the universe where something interesting is going on.

Possibly, but there are some pretty obscure lifeforms in odd corners of the world. Not all forms of life in Earth are of the type we think of as "terrestrial". To add to that Europa is a wildcard. The surface is ice, and beneath it an ocean - so who knows what we'll find there when we're finally able to look?
