Today is Bike To Work Day[^]. How many of you commuted to work under your own power this morning? This is the second time this week I rode in; I've got a 12 mile (one-way) commute. And no, this does not include you yahoos that telecommute from home in your bathrobes and bunny slippers; quiet down! :-D

It takes me six minutes to walk to work. I have *so much* free time; it's unbelievable!

Sad to say that I didn't this week. Came down with a bad case of sore throat/cold last week through the weekend. Still haven't recovered fully. :( I feel like I'll be well enough on monday though.

Almost as much as me I got 15 miles. Takes me 1 hr. How much did it take for you?

Actually I walked to work, just as I have most every day for the last 18 years. This morning my commute took 2 minutes, including putting on a pot of coffee in the kitchen on the way. For the last 10 years or so, I walked about 6 blocks. These days I walk down the hall past the kitchen to my home office.

I got a day off, but otherwise I'd be biking in as usual. Just over 5 kilometers, enough to wake up and get some fresh air :)

              I are troll :)

With me, it depends on the route: Route 1: Mostly bike path, 12 miles; takes about 40-45 minutes. Route 2: Back roads, mildly rolling, 11 miles; about 50 minutes. Route 3: Back roads, hilly, 13 miles; 60-70 minutes. I usually take route 2 or 3 into work, and then always take route 1 home. I've found the morning traffic is pretty polite to cyclists. The afternoon drivers simply see us as extra points, since we're moving targets :sigh:.

I'm on a bike break... my last 2 bikes were stolen (in the last 2 years)! And I don't have the money to get a new one this years; but my eyes are fixed on a DeVinci [^]"Sidney" or "Helsinki" hopefully my evaluation and most importantly, the bonus, will let me buy myself a nice gift.

I live in Xenia, Ohio. We're a major junction point for a number of local bike paths[^].

That's too bad. Maybe there's an advantage to living in the sticks (Xenia, Ohio)...

I have to take a highway (not express way of course), go through a national park, a busy road where the traffic is jam packed, and not to mention up-hills. Surely, yours can not be as complicated.

Not I. Only 6 miles, but where i work is 1000' higher than the river I have to cross on the way. Looking at google's map it looks like I'd have almost a mile at a 10% average grade. Also, as penance for my ability to not wear a coat in the dead of winter, I break out in a sweat if exercise looks at me cross eyed; even on a cool morning I'd need a shower by the time I arrived. That's a given for me; my body's best athletic event is sweating :sigh:. Fortunately, we have a locker room with showers here at work. I'll end up showering three times today: once on arrival at work, once at lunch (I ran 7.5 miles), and then once after I get home tonight. Normally I don't run on days I bike to work, but I missed Wednesday and yesterday, so I'm making up for lost time.

I walk to work frequently about 2 miles...Up hill...both ways (literally...I live and work on a hill with a valley in between).

Now that would be a commute on the bike. Depending on hills and such, 90 minutes to two hours each way.
