Apologies if repost. Screencast showing it in action - 13 minutes... The demos whizz past but I'd like to see what happens when it gets confused. :) Introducing Wolfram Alpha[^]

If it's even half as cool as that screencast, i'm gonna be wasting massive amounts of time with that thing...

Thus begins the singularity[^], if you believe the hype.

"NaN" = not at night. It's WOLFram, so vampires aren't allowed.

Screw Vinge!!! All he ever did was steal ideas from me! (Actually, he had some very similar ideas, but it's no fun at all to describe it that way.)

Here's a wild guess: When you type "My", or "My this, my that", you will get a response none other than: "Stephen Wolfram". :)

Never see something like that. It seems to provide any information you need.

No, it's really just Mathematica in the cloud if you think about it. Impressive and worthwhile but not the singularity.

I'll be impressed if it knows the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow.

What's going on? Their "live feed" is still the canned video and they were supposed to launch 30 minutes ago but it's still the same old "Launching May 2009" message on the main page. [edit]Ah, the live feed is working now. Patience is not my virtue.[/edit]

Crikey! I finally lived to see it - the day when computers are smarter than humans. This is the first I've heard of the project, and I'm awed by the demo. I can't wait for the awakening... So many questions to ask. I wonder if it knows about '42'? [evil grin]
