We are currently using VS 2005. I want to create Project Templates for several project types we use. Currently we start a new project by copying an existing one and then doing the search and replace thing. Before I spend any time on this I want to know if I am going to have to redo a significant amount of work if I create Project Templates in VS 2005 and then try and use them when we migrate to VS 2008 or VS 2010. Any info from people who have already been through this is appreciated. Thanks. Terry Griffin

Hi, have a look into DDKWizard. Even though it aims to create "Make projects", you'll see the differences. It also covers up the differences between VS2002 through 2008. So far 2010 has eluded me, because the project file format has changed from the old one to MSBUILD. DDKWizard does also modify some of the properties of the project, so it demonstrates probably all of the aspects you'd need to know about. If questions contact me through the DDKWizard website. // Oliver
