You know you need a break when...

you think of hitting ctrl-alt to break out of a day dream... (this has actualy happened to me several times while driving!)
I occasionally sing when I drive (unaccompanied by the radio) - and I've reached to change the radio station. :wtf:

Sorry, I actualy meant the exclamation to emphasise that it actually happened, and I mentioned driving as it’s the only time where I would accept being taken out of a day dream. I have also been known to sing, change CD tracks and carve little ducks out of pickled onions while driving.

...you are staring at the reflection of your monitor in the window and wondering to yourself "I wonder how much extra processing power goes into updating the image in the window at the same time as the screen. And there's almost zero lag..."

... you find yourself staring at the keyboard not knowing what to do next.

... you try to point your mouse to click on the paper calendar hanging on the wall beside your monitor. (I've done this three times in as many months.)

You start wondering why the menu at the resturant doesn't have any cool flyouts, and nothing happens when you click on the items

I've experienced everything from that list: You know you need a break when... ...search for backspace when you write on a paper, since you don't have one, put // (or /* ... */ if multiline) to tell the reader that this part should be ignored; ...when closing the window in a room, look its upper-right corner for "X"; ...when watching TV try to pause it when you are going to WC; ...you don't calculate 2 power of 32, you just know the result; ...you write your shopping list in a XML; ...you start using "true" and "false", instead of "yes" or "no";
Several times I have tried to ctrl-s things, like writing on paper or after fixing some stuff, that was awkward. Oh and I almoast always try to ctrl-s anything while typing like posts on forum, and then I realize that I'm saving the site not my text.

You know you need a break when... I have a bunch of sticky notes stuck around the bezel of my LCD monitors here at work. One of them had our company's mailing address written on it. I tried twice to move my mouse pointer onto the sticky note so I could copy/paste it when I realized what I was attempting was impossible! :doh:
