No, it wasn't. This second article is a virtually verbatim restatement of my argument that everyone jumped on me for making.

If you don't see the difference between having minimal expertise and dismissing a hypothesis with no evidence and no particular reason other than you feel like it (e.g. you) and having a great deal of expertise and dismissing a hypothesis while offering a different, ostensibly equally plausible explanation (e.g. the paleontologists in this article) then perhaps you should re-evaluate the regard that you claim to have for scientific reasoning.
