Forgetting the password. I tried KeePass. I entered the master password many times over many days and thought I had it down. This morning, I started up the program and my mind went blank. I have the first letter and that's it. Fortunately, I still have my password sheet in my fire-proof lockbox.

No, I'd just installed KeePass. My idea was to see if I could get away without writing any passwords down. Guess not.

Actually you only need to write one password down with KeePass. :-D BTW it is good to have a backup list even with KeePass in case you have a disk failure or some other failure of the KeePass database.

I use password safe, works well for me. As a minimum they do assume that you can remember 1 password and retain it long enough to open the safe!

I was assuming that if you have one password protected a whole bunch, it better be pretty good. Unfortunately, good passwords get all jumbled up with all the other good passwords dreamt up over the years.

While not the most safe, I just use s zip file to store them. Someone gets the file and a zip crack program, I would be dead meat, but hey, at least it works :)
