Why do they do it? [modified]

Why do so many "authors" attempt to submit extremely poor articles? Self advertising? Fame and fortune? Lost a bet? Mental deficiencies (my spell checker saved me on that one)? Just testing it out? On death row and "CP Article" is on their bucket list? EDIT: a poll asking what the author's goals are for the article would be an interesting idea. Maybe include it at the top of the article submission page. Has there been a weekly poll asking why members post articles?

My guess is they are just are proud of their work. And they should be, even if it sucks - after all, it tells something about being passionate. That they are borderline self-confident to the point of being suicidal is another story, however ;)

I can see that times are changing with the aperture to bloggers to mirror their articles into CP. In fact, the top ranked articles come from that source: To Ranked C#[^] Btw, mine is third. Have a nice day.

That's partly because it only has 4 votes, after a while someone will ruin it with a 4..
Yes, probably that would happen, but it does not stop me to continue sharing my knowledge with the community. I do not claim to be a "master" or something, I'm just trying to write down the things that to me seems to be interesting. One thing that I've also noted is that I'm a very bad writer :D, however, the feedback that I receive from CP members helps me to improve the articles, giving me the extra benefit of learn something new in the process. I think that write articles about some 'X' subject it pays back all the effort at the end (you become a little bit better about the subject that you write about), so I'll continue doing it no matter how many votes I might get.
