This is to put everyone on notice that my website was hacked several times in the last 2 days. I made a list of everyone--email,name, website, etc-- who posted a negative comment about me and I have turned that list over to my attorney this morning with instructions to turn that list over to the F.B.I. I have requested that my attorney file a formal complaint with the Computer Crimes Division of the F.B.I. in Washington, to investiget the destruction of my website. I have further instructed my attorney to hire a private investigation company that specializes in such crimes to determine who did it and to file a CIVIL lawsuit against that party or parties for $20 million in damages. You have simply created a problem for everyone on codeproject and I am sure they do not apprecaite your actions that have made them suspects. Sincerely, William SerGio Bill SerGio, The Infomercial King
And the CodeProject Soap Opera continues. Stay tuned for the next episode where Bill SerGio claims he has proof that aliens really do exist.... Todd Smith

BTW what is Uri up to these days? Has anyone ever proven what he does?

Actually the government can do a lot. But not really via any direct means. The economy is like a huge black box with 10,000 knobs. Unfortunately, the government can only tweak 100 of those knobs. The biggest problem is that people expect the government to be able to twirl a magic wand and everyone wakes up the next morning with everything fixed. We are only now getting into the time where the Bush administration's actions (or inactions) are starting to effect the economy. For the most part we are still suffering from Clinton's inability to take any action. But I can't say that Bush is doing any better. He has become singled minded (IMHO). But then again, you can't really blame Bush or Clinton for the scope of the current mess. Sure, Clinton's government agencies were woefully inadequate when it comes to monitoring business. But how much does a president really control that mess. Sure, he can place a different moron at the helm, but a ship floundering of a reef is still floundering regardless of the captain. Tim Smith "Programmers are always surrounded by complexity; we can not avoid it... If our basic tool, the language in which we design and code our programs, is also complicated, the language itself becomes part of the problem rather that part of the solution." Forgot to add this to my previous post: When I take money that I didn't earn from someone else who did earn it, it's called "stealing", but when the government does it, it's called "taxation". But whether you're the just a person or you're a government, it's still stealing when it comes down to it. Heck, under this scenario, I could declare myself dictator of my neighborhood (by use of force) and tax my neighbors! Why am I a software developer when I could be a dictator!! (just kidding) ;P "Our contest is not only whether we ourselves shall be free, but whether there shall be left to mankind an asylum on earth for civil and religious liberty." --Samuel Adams

Actually, I was thinking more in terms that the only thing government really has control over (economy-wise) is taxes and regulation. Reduce both of these across the board, and the economy grows -- raise both, and the economy shrinks. Unfortunately, the effects of economic policies are usually not immediate, and sometimes carry over from one Congress / President's administration into another, and most people don't realize this. For example, if President X lowers taxes all through his administration while the economy sucks, X will still be blamed for a bad economy unless the effects of those cuts are seen. But when President Y is elected and inherits the benefits of President X's policies, President Y will get the credit. Implementing a sales tax only system would remove many of these effects AND a lot of the politics about the economy, since sales taxes are self-limiting (which is what the US had for many, many years). If sales taxes get too high, people buy less, and the tax is lowered. If the tax is too low, people take advantage of this and buy more. Could the US ever get back to a sales tax only system? I wish, but I doubt it, without a massive collapse and getting the politians (from both parties) out of the government. Which brings me to another question -- what is a politian (or what does a politian become) when they're not in power? A windbag? ;P "Our contest is not only whether we ourselves shall be free, but whether there shall be left to mankind an asylum on earth for civil and religious liberty." --Samuel Adams

As always, it's bread and circuses. And while bread is down right now, circuses are way up.
No kidding. And it is so damn hypocritical. During the Clinton years, the Republicans said "What are our goals and what is our exit strategy." Now we get "Blow shit up". That just doesn't hack it for me. But you do have to remember, Iraq is like the mob, the top boss distances himself to make sure he can't be tied directly. I am not saying that Saddam is behind the whole mess, but he has ties. just my opinion, i don't feel like arguing today Hehe, for once I don't think we are diametrically opposed. Bill, why do you think these people post negative comments about you? I mean everyone meets a few people they just don't click with now and then, but you have well above the average. The negative comments you bring on yourself for the most part IMO. For example, you posted a comment on a CodeGuru article that 99.9999% of programmers couldn't create an office assistant type application. Then you proceed to tell the author his code isn't that good. WTF? That just shows that you have no idea what you are talking about. Then, you pretend to be such an "expert" on programming. Arrogance is bad, but unjustified arrogance is 100 times worse. Maybe you should have used your "exceptional" security experience to secure you site so nobody could hack it. Also, why do you need the private investigator? You surely have the skills to track this person down yourself. Maybe you are too busy making those infomercials? It figures that you would be the kind of person to sue someone in civil court over something like this. I mean, come on, $20 million in damages? Who are you kdding? How do you know it was anyone from The Code Project anyway? If you are the same offline as you are online I am sure the line of people that would do something like this to you forms to the left. You need to grow up, treat people with respect, and deflate your head. Then you won't have these problems. -- Dana Holt Xenos Software

Please add me to the list of people to be investigated by the FBI; it might be fun (if they can afford the air fare). If you need a negative comment to justify it then make up one and pretend I posted it; it probably won't be as bad as anything I would have chosen but frankly I just can't be bothered. As a special treat, Bill ... my sig does not apply to you! Not very sincerely, PhIl PeaRsoN

<version type="long> A negative comment?? Okay, how about: "you are a complete fucking idiot." 20 million in damages, eh? Damn, hacking that website must've blown up your computer, house, car, and a 10 mile radius around the area. Suspects? Whoopty-fucking-doo. Eat shit, Sergio. You are a loser. Face it. It's most likely that you got Nimda/Code Red or something similar, and are too fucking stupid to understand what's happening. Oh, and while you're thinking about it: It /is/ illegal to threaten legal action with no intent of taking any.
