Signatures - verbal diarrhoea

Mine is unchanged for nearly 4 millenia and has been handed down through the male line since 1188 BC.. In it's original form, granted as a Cartouche to me ancestors by the Pharaoh Setnakhte, it consisted of the three pictograms for panic, chaos and destruction under the outstretched wings of, what appears to be, an african swallow.
Panic, Chaos, Destruction. My work here is done.

My latest article | Linkify!| FoldWithUs! | sighist I think all you people's signatures are much to long. You should strife for short, poignant, funny and interestng signatures that are nonetheless shorter than the body of themessage, for the body of the message is where your thoughts ideas, jokes and answers go to. But you all you people don't know that.peterchen wrote:

Peter, it's 'strive' not 'strife' and 'the message' not 'themessage'

Each to his/her own... So here go the next questions: Is it a sort of male dominance thing? You know, who can be the most witty? Who considers themselves the clown at the party? or Is it a follow the leader thing? One can't be seen not to have an elaborate signature, it's just no right, after all, all the other people have one.

No. Well, it's not a contest, I just add stuff that makes me laugh, or, in the case of the OSX comment, that reflects my overall state of mind.

I dunno, I've been here 10+ years, and I've had quotes in my sig for as long as the site has supported them.

It's a geek/nerd thing going on - its the only way most of these guys have of trying to impress - usually failing miserably especially when they start quoting each other, mentioning hamsters, Chuck Norris or praying to the geek god JSOP

sometime it is and other times it can be witty. It depends on the sig and who's doing it.

Of course. The answer is yes. It is an art form of its own. I generally find them interesting and they tend to remind me who the person is before I see their name. You aren't suggesting a Signature Limiting Universal Treaty are you? We can't allow there to be a Sig gap, can we?

I believe he's in favor of the Joint Active Network Enterprise Universal ('ignorant misguided') version of the treaty.
