So, my Boot Camp XP partition won't boot, except in safe mode ( and I didn't do anything ), it won't boot in VMWare, VMWare won't let me remove it ( which is what it says I should do ), my other XP VM is half broken, and someone from VMWare support is abusing me. Again.

Easy for you to say, I'm betting your computer cost less than 7 grand, and that it works. The core issue appears to be VMWare. The Fusion support staff are downright rude and abusive, and while it's great when it works, it's basically broken everything it touches, for me. I think I need to buy parallels, and keep a Boot Camp drive that is never run from OSX.

Sucks. Have you considered going back to something earlier than 10.5.7? You can do this in a couple of ways. 1) Use the Leopard DVD to perform an Archive Install of the OS, then download the 10.5.6 combo update after the install finishes. An Archive Install doesn't wipe user data, it just resets the system. 2) Assuming you are still running time machine, you can boot from the install DVD and restore from the Time Machine backup of a particular time. Be carefull to back up you current data though :) It may not fix everything but it could be worth a shot to deal with the issues caused by the update and fusion.

It seems possible that the issue is that it's hard to tell who works for VMWare, and who just likes to abuse people on their forums. I've worked out how to boot in VMWare, but my Boot Camp still won't boot. I am tracking down if SP3 may have auto installed, and caused the issue.

Looks like having partitioned has hosed my Boot Camp partition, so I am backing up and reinstalling XP. From there, I should be fine to go.
