NZ I have all the points I need, the chance to go and a job, then I can be fit and healthy, free from crowds and it is the most peaceful country on Earth. Unfortunately, my wife won't go!

I've recently looked at Canada but for some reason hadn't thought of NZ. Looks like I've got enough points to express an interest and would have even more once my OU degree is finished. I might have to do that later today. Any country that invents a new extreme sport each week is a place I ought to be living. It's got to be better than living in a "democracy" where almost everyone in the country votes against the government and they see that as a mandate to carry on as they were.

Do you like rain and fog and snow?

I got little rain, no fog, no snow for my summer holidays there (three times).

And it gets worse in Winter!

Actually, a lot of snow made me change a bit the winter holiday plan and visit the Lake District instead. Another issue was the very short daylight (very long day light is, a big advantage for summer holidays).

We went to Scotland after Christmas last year - right up north in a place called Nairn. Fandabidozi!

Given a choice, other than your own, which country do you like to live in, and why? My answer: Still surfing through the list of countries in the world ... :-)

I WILL live in Hungary when I get older; retirement or near. My wife is Magyar and we intend to return there as that is our home now. We are in the UK to work and that is it. The weather is great, food and drink are superb, and my lil house by the lake wonderful.

I live in Australia, what other country could I possibly want to live in ?

England. A once charming land which is now just full of sportsware-wearing, shaven-headed, gold-chain clad yobs. People on the street are generally impatient, thick and rude. Often drunk to the point to being a danger to themselves and those around them. A lot of people actually *watch* or even aspire to be on Big Brother. Combine that with a knackered economy and a dire Government and it's the perfect mix. Oh, and two weeks of sunshine a year.

            Regards, Rob Philpott.

Italy or China. I speak fluent Italian, and my wife is Chinese, so I won't have a problem with either.

Well, I spent some 11 years in Venezuela and it was nice until the politics. For the first 6 or 8 years my wife and I considered it home, but we've now come back to our real home in the US. When I retire, we'll probably spend equal time in the US, in Bolivia and just traveling where ever we feel like and can afford. My dream would be to have a small ranch by the river in the northern, tropical part of Bolivia. That is, if I can get an internet connection! I've visited Europe and the UK enough to not have any desire to live there. Africa and the Middle East don't have any draw, either. Australia and NZ I definitely want to see and who knows whether we'd like them or not.

I recently saw a web site that was set up by people who were very unhappy with their treatment after moving to Canada. I don't have the link, but I bet you can find it if you are serious about Canada.

I've seen that too. To be honest most of them seemed to have turned up with no job arranged with expecting to walk into highly skilled / paid jobs on the first day they arrived. I'd plan on turning up to a new country with a job pretty much agreed and a wedge of cash to tide me through the early months just in case. I would definitely check out any country I was going to move to pretty seriously before I went. Russell
