Edit: If you haven't already, please read the thread entitled "Chris offers us a Soapbox 1.0" I've set up a forum at http://soapbox.freeforums.org. To make it easy to join, right now all it requires is email confirmation but it features a very rich set of banning tools (all of Pakistan can be banned for instance) in case a troll slips in and, later we can go to moderator approval to join if it turns out it is needed. Maybe of even more interest is that anyone can put any other member on ignore and stop dealing with their messages. As you may have guessed, right now it's set up on a free hosting site that will, in a couple of months, start pumping ads in at the top of the site. This is no big deal as the site can be upgraded to eliminate them or we can migrate it to Chris Austin's host if he's still of a mind to offer, but setting it up with no financial obligation gives me a chance to see if the site is of interest before reaching for my wallet, or imposing on someone else's generosity. The site is using what I believe is the most popular bulletin board setup in the world: phpBB which is so feature-rich it is almost overwhelming. I've got a lot of options turned off for the moment, but couldn't help but select five flash games for the arcade. ;) Just to be clear: there are only two people who have frequented this site that are not welcome. I don't care if you have agreed or disagreed violently with me (yes, Stan, you are invited) or whether you think I'm a white hat or a black hat, you are welcome. There's no word censor in place and if in the heat of argument you feel a need to call someone a flaming bleep-bleep, it's not against any rule. Age limit is 13 to conform with the law so if your kid sister is younger than that tell her to stay out. On the other hand, becoming a link monkey or insulting everyone who asks you to debate or explain your opinion is a great way to get warned by one of the moderators, and enough warnings get you temporarily banned. Enough temporary bans and it becomes permanent. Speaking of which the site needs moderators. Rob is already one. If you've got the time send me a PM via the board after you register. Note please that I am not competing with the Back Room or trying to shut it down - merely offering a safe haven where discussion can take place without the board being turned into a blog for a couple of clowns who despise everyone else, and though it may disappoint the trolls, I am not planning on asking Chris to cancel my membership with CP. Indeed I'll

        Yeah, don't waste your time.

Noooo. I say, let "the community" waste their time, encourage all of that mind-set to emmigrate. Just perhaps they'll learn something before they migrate back here. And, if they don't migrate back here, after all, then every one is happy.

I suspect they will. The pitiful amount of power over the rest in the forum that Oakman possess will get to him. If the small minority of people actually go there, it will degrade quickly once Oakman goes on a power trip. It is strict controlled debate where Oakman says what you can say and how you can say it. We have already seen how he behaves here with people who he happens to not like, he will be much worse on the other side.

If he is successful at flushing this forum, it will certainly refill with a fresh crowd. Perhaps the quite readers will finally feel free to post.
