Click on 'email user' and then your reply will go to their email, and I believe will have your email in it.

To e-mail someone else, click the Email button instead of the Reply button. To have them e-mail you, enable the "Allow private email replies to this message" checkbox.

Not quite. First it is "Email", not "Email User". And then, since a couple of months now, for new messages it is only there if the author of the message wanted it to be there, so the procedure is more like: if "Email" button present, use it; if not, reply "please reply with e-mail enabled", then use it. :)

The quality and detail of your question reflects on the effectiveness of the help you are likely to get. Show formatted code inside PRE tags, and give clear symptoms when describing a problem.

It is the third checkbox on the reply page, now also available on the personnal settings page. Its state gets persisted; warning: changing it while editing an existing message, used to be ignored. Don't know that has been fixed yet. And it becomes a property of the message, so once you have a single message with allow-private-email checked, anyone can mail you by locating such message (hence also any old message) and clicking there. :)
